Slow is Smooth. Smooth is Fast.
Over my time away from all things dial-tone I have refreshed my love of all things home automation and or smart home. The majority of my posts going forward will be around the dreaded IOT and cheap $4 sensors that I seem to buy too many of off Temu and simliar sites. Okay I will also be focused on the various ecosystems I have worked on which include Home Assistant, Samsung SmartThings, Google Home, Aqara, Govee, Switchbot. How to trunk, lol, i mean integreate them, how and where to get devices registered along with any other things that allegedly make my home smarter.
Anyway, first technical post in a few years. Incoming!
Recently, someone on the SmartHome Reddit forum was asking if you could access Google Home Settings from your computer? You got the typcial answers of “No, Google apparently isn’t that advanced.” the somewhat more helpful, “Yup, need to run an Adroid emulator like Bluestacks and you can do it then.” I then dropped in with ,”why emulate when you can just access those settings from the Web?” In case you aren’t aware, you can access just about all of the Google Home Settings from a PC\MAC without having to use an Android emulator like Bluestack or something simliar. All you need to do is go to the url for that setting which you can find in the table below
You will quickly see that these are web views streteched to fit a monitor vs optimized for a mobile app so don’t expect the most fluid UX. Still, if you prefer the app version of automation creation to Script Editor you can get the same experience from your machine vs on your cell.
